Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Each glove has a 1-1-2 lobster design whereby the ring finger and little finger are paired for maximum insulation, and the index finger and middle finger are separate for optimal handlebar control.
- This design brings the warmth of a mitten and the feel of a glove together.
- The glove is waterproof thanks to the Hipora inner glove and the Dynashield 10,000 softshell outer layer; your hands stay dry when exposed to rain, wet snow and splashes.
- 100g Primaloft insulation allows for maximum warmth at temperatures down to -10°C.
- There is Poron XRD rubber in the palm for better shock absorption on bumpy roads.
- The gloves are heavy and thick. Due to their lobster design and Primaloft insulation, they reduce dexterity and bar feel.

Rogelli's waterproof Deep Winter gloves are designed for the coldest and most challenging bike rides. With a temperature range of -10°C to 0°C, they are an excellent choice for cyclists who keep on riding, even in severe frost, rain and wet snow. The combination of Dynashield 10,000 softshell, Primaloft 100g insulation, and waterproof Hipora inner gloves makes the gloves suitable for with the harshest conditions.
The 1-1-2 lobster construction is what sets this glove apart from a standard winter glove. While your ring finger and little finger are joined together for better insulation, your index and middle fingers remain separate for optimal handlebar control. Thus, you will benefit from the warmth of a mitten without losing the grip and feel of a cycling glove. The extended cuff with Velcro fastening, and the additional inner cuff seal the glove tightly around your wrist, preventing cold air from entering your jacket sleeve.
Will you choose the Rogelli Deep Winter or the Rogelli Alta cycling gloves? The Deep Winter gloves are designed for temperatures between 0°C and -10°C, are fully waterproof thanks to the Hipora inner gloves, and feature a 1-1-2 lobster construction for maximum warmth. The Alta gloves are suitable for temperatures ranging from -5°C to 5°C, are windproof but not waterproof, and have five separate fingers. In severe frost with rain or wet snow, the Deep Winter gloves are the right choice. If you are cycling in dry, cold and windy conditions without extreme frost, the Alta gloves are lighter and offer better bar feel.
Dynashield 10,000 softshell
The glove's upper is made of Dynashield 10,000, a sturdy softshell with a water column rating of 10,000 mm. This is significantly higher than the Dynashield 3000 used in the Alta glove, meaning the fabric remains waterproof even in persistent rain and wet snow. The reflective softshell panel on the upper also increases your visibility in low light.
Primaloft 100g insulation and Hipora inner glove
The Primaloft 100g insulation layer retains heat, even when the outer layer gets wet. The Hipora inner glove forms a waterproof barrier on the inside, preventing water from the outside reaching your hand. Together, they make the Deep Winter glove suitable for temperatures down to -10°C in both wet and dry winter conditions.
1-1-2 lobster construction
In a so-called lobster glove, the fingers are not all separated as in a normal glove, nor are they all joined together as in a mitten. The 1-1-2 configuration means that the thumb, index and middle fingers are separate, and the ring and little fingers are together. The outer fingers being together improves insulation; the inner fingers being separate gives you better control to brake and change gears.
Poron XRD rubber insert and PU palm
The Poron XRD rubber insert in the palm absorbs shocks on bumpy road surfaces, reducing hand fatigue. The durable PU palm is hard-wearing and provides a reliable grip on the handlebars, even when the glove is wet from rain or snow.
Ideal for:
- Temperatures ranging from -10°C to 0°C – severe frost, strong winds and wet winter conditions with rain or sleet.
- Riders who are looking for waterproof gloves with maximum insulation, and willing to accept slightly less direct grip for it.
- Riders who will cycle in the dark or at dusk and want gloves that contribute to better visibility.
Not suitable for:
- Temperatures above 0°C – the thick Primaloft insulation and lobster construction make the gloves too warm for milder winter days; in such temperatures, choose thinner gloves.
- Dry, cold conditions where you want maximum handlebar feel – the lobster construction offers less direct grip than five separate fingers; for dry, cold conditions, the Alta gloves are a better choice.
Not sure about the size? Here’s how to check:
Measure the circumference of your hand at its widest point, just below the knuckles, using a tape measure loosely wrapped around your hand. Select your size in the order box based on that measurement. Due to the thick insulating layer and the lobster design, the Deep Winter gloves fit more snugly than thinner gloves; if you are between two sizes, go for the larger one.
How to keep your Rogelli Deep Winter gloves in good condition:
- Wash on a cold cycle and inside out: Turn the gloves inside out and select a cold cycle. The Hipora inner gloves and the Primaloft insulation are sensitive to high washing temperatures.
- Use a mild detergent: Do not use a bio-detergent or fabric softener. Fabric softener impairs the water-repellent properties of the Dynashield fabric.
- Do not bleach or dry-clean: Both will damage the coating of the Dynashield 10,000 fabric and the Hipora inner gloves.
- Hang the gloves to dry: Do not put them in the tumble dryer because heat will damage the Primaloft insulation and the waterproof layers.
- Take the gloves off immediately after your ride and leave them to dry open, even if the outside feels dry. The Hipora inner gloves keep water out but sweat on the inside must be able to evaporate.
- For the extended cuff to work best, make sure it covers the sleeve opening of your winter jacket, then fasten the Velcro. This seals the glove completely and keeps the cold air out.
- Are you riding in conditions just above the Deep Winter’s range, around 0°C to 5°C? Put on lighter gloves and take the Deep Winter gloves with you in case the temperature drops or it starts to rain.
